  • Saturday, August 29, 2026
  • 6pm to 8 pm
  • Sadie’s Studio Westchester – 8342 Lincoln Boulevard, 90045
  • Format: Community education and discussion

Co-sponsored by LA Planning, Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) and the Mar Vista Voice.

WHY ATTEND THIS MEETING?

LA Planning’s Missing Middle housing and land use strategy requires new city ordinances. First-draft ordinances were released in June 2026 (find them here.) As of this posting, LA Planning is holding community events to explain the program and get feedback. Their timeline? It’s fast! A second-draft ordinance released soon (timeframe unclear but likely in September, 2026.) Then a public hearing sometime in Fall, 2026 and full approval by the end of 2026.

August & September 2026 is our chance to get informed and provide feedback on this strategy and first-draft ordinances. How? Either in sponsored discussion meetings like this one on 8/29, or directly by communicating with Planning (scroll down for MORE INFO below).

HOW LA PLANNING PROPOSES TO ENCOURAGE SMALL-SCALE HOUSING

  1. Changes in Small Scale Housing (ADU) options.
  2. Updates to the existing Small Lot Subdivision ordinance to allow up to 10 housing units on a parcel that qualifies (# units dependent on total sq ft of parcel) and by encouraging creative housing design (townhomes, row houses, bungalow courts, cottage courts, etc.)
  3. New Design Standards for small lot subdivision projects to better support walkable neighborhoods, a sense of community, and retaining existing buildings and mature trees.
