With the advent of ED1 in Los Angeles, we wanted to create a “cheat sheet” show how our Planning Department processes applications for different types of buildings that include affordable housing.
With both ED1 and State Density Bonus Laws active, developers now have 3 possible routes to building affordable housing. Each Planning application process has different parameters regarding public input and review, which has implications for how our organization—or really, any stakeholder—can exert influence on what is built in our community.
